The information below is important and is not specific to this course.
University Information
Title IX
As your instructors, one of our responsibilities is to help create a safe learning environment on our campus. Title IX and our own Sexual Misconduct policy prohibit sexual misconduct. If you have experienced sexual misconduct, or know someone who has, the University can help. You are encouraged to visit Stop Sexual Violence (link below) to learn more.
If you are seeking help and would like to speak to someone confidentially, you can make an appointment with:
- Sexual Assault Crisis Services (SACS) at (812) 855-8900 for counseling services.
- Confidential Victim Advocates (CVA) at (812) 856-2469 for advocacy and advice services.
- IU Health Center at (812) 855-4011 for health and medical services.
It is also important that you know that federal regulations and University policy require instructors to promptly convey any known information about potential sexual misconduct to our Deputy Title IX Coordinator or IU’s Title IX Coordinator. In that event, they will work with a small number of others on campus to ensure that appropriate measures are taken and resources are made available to the student who may have been harmed. Protecting a student’s privacy is of utmost concern, and all involved will only share information with those that need to know to ensure the University can respond and assist.
Emergency Procedures
Protect IU provides emergency procedures for the university. You can find a list of emergency procedures using the following link.
The course instructors will not communicate emergency information except when students are in a synchronous course meeting (in person or online) and there is an immediate risk to health or safety as determined by the University/campus. This policy is in the interest of not inundating you with communications; we rely on the University/campus to distribute this information in these instances.
Childcare
If you have care responsibilities for a child and your childcare needs come into conflict with the course schedule, please don't feel as though you have to miss class. We understand that sometimes childcare plans fall through. If this happens, you are welcome to bring a child with you. We ask that you bring materials to keep them busy (e.g. book, headphones and screens) and remain mindful of your classmates. If you have questions about this feel free to contact us. We'll make it work.
